Le Bernardin

I’ve been shamelessly eating my way through Zagat’s list of Best Food in New York City. On every anniversary, le boyfriend and I go to a fine dining restaurant. It’s a rare indulgence and I look forward to it every year. So far, we’ve been to Bouley, Per Se, Jean-Georges, & Daniel (and AOC Bedford which sadly closed years ago).

Last night, we went to Le Bernardin to celebrate being together for 9 years without killing each other. If you have an occasion like this that deserves celebrating, you should consider French fine dining. It’s an elegant experience. The food is spectacular, the wine is overflowing, and the staff will dote on you all night.

(And if you’re a raging glutton/wine lush/narcissist like me who loves being doted on then it’s heaven on earth).

Bread: roasted tomato & raisin // Amuse Bouche: tuna tartare, salmon ceviche, & cauliflower soup

Bay Scallop-Sea Urchin: in marinated granny smith meyer lemon vinaigrette // ‘Surf & Turf’: roasted bone marrow, fresh sea urchin, & bacon crisps

Scallop: barely cooked, with brown butter dashi // Lobster: with red wine sauce Americaine

Chocolate Mille-Feuille // Petit Fours
