Farewell, Waldorf Astoria

When I think of the Waldorf Astoria, one thing comes to mind: Coming To America, the comedy with Eddie Murphy. It’s one of those iconic New York City institutions like The Plaza Hotel or Katz Deli – you think it’s always going to be there. So I was a bit saddened to hear that the hotel has been sold and will be closed during its renovation – most of the rooms will be gone and replaced by luxury apartments while the ground floor will have boutiques.

This past weekend, Brian took me on a day date and we spent a couple of hours wandering the landmark hotel. I can’t think of a better way to spend a day than to be surrounded by beautiful, Art Deco splendor. Click through for more photos!
