Cabin Fever

It’s been over a week since my surgery. Day 9 of being home alone and I realize that I’m slowly running out of Grey’s Anatomy episodes, canvases to paint, and things to draw. I’ve switched from Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, & Twitter and refreshed the Home feed so many times that I literally know what everyone’s been doing, eating, drinking, and wearing. Friday night was St. Paddy’s Day and while everyone’s out drinking, I stayed home with Lizzie, crying over Mark Sloane. Saturday at 4pm, I was supposed to go see Beauty and the Beast with Brian but instead stayed home and watched new episodes of The Iron Fist. Cabin Fever officially set in.

So here’s a photo diary of my pretty apartment thanks to everyone’s care packages, snacks, and bouquets of well wishes. Also, lots of photos of Lizzie.

Day 1: Brian bought me flowers and a pint of Banana Pudding. My fave!

Day 6: Painting in the living room while this little bear was sniffing around my canvases.

Obsessed with her.

Rockin Around the Christmas Tree

Hi all! Two more days until Christmas! I wanted to share some photos of holiday ornaments that I worked on a couple of weeks ago. Inspired by this awesome tumblr, I made a couple of ornaments based on mine and Brian’s favorite fictional characters. Boba Fett is awesome. Boba Fett with gold glitter is EVEN MORE AWESOME.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas! PS: My Blog is Officially One Year Old!

It’s my blog’s 1st year anniversary! To celebrate, I’ll share my weekend of hardcore nesting/crafting/baking.

I had pancakes for breakfast BOTH days (a treat for me because I don’t usually eat carbs/sweets), I made my second attempt at pie (Apple), we finally decorated our Christmas tree, and I even made some awesome ornaments!

Sunflowers & Thrifting Steals.

This past weekend, le boyfriend bought me a bouquet of sunflowers. Now, I know this is going to come as a surprise but

1- I don’t have a favorite flower (I don’t have a lot of favorite anything.)

2-  I don’t know how to properly arrange flowers. In fact, I suck at it.

I tried to cut the stems short to try and fit them in a round fishbowl but it just wasn’t working out. I felt horrible about ruining them so instead of sticking all of them in one vase, I took a whole bunch of my Double Old-Fashioned glasses and stuck one giant sunflower in each. I then spread them around the entire apartment. They look so cheery!

Two days ago was National Thrift Shop Day. To honor it, I’ve also posted photos of my two most recent buys, both from separate occasions.

I don’t care for half-measures, I’m all about grand gestures.

January is always a busy month for me. The heels of the holiday madness are followed by lots of events, including my birthday and because I like to live on the idiotic wild side, I usually like to plan something ridiculously exorbitant for the event. This year, I decided to have casual drinks at Lillie’s on Saturday and then have a brunch at our apartment on Sunday afternoon, my actual birthday. (By the way, I got completely sotted at Lillie’s like an 18-year-old lush at a frat party – but that’s a story for another blog post). I took the simple brunch idea and went over-the-top with it: I decided to have a Luau party. Continue reading
