Ring in 2018 with a Cheese Board!

December 31st, 2017 is the Second Annual Stay Home and Drink and Eat All Day New Years’ Eve Extravaganza (Our first last year was equally fun) . I love, love, love staying in on New Year’s Eve now. It’s something that I look forward to! Long gone are the $150-open bar tickets for five hours at Capitale only to step out past midnight into the cold, heels aching, to the sobering lack of transportation options. No more crowding around a bar for 20 minutes, being forced to resort to double/triple/quadruple-fisting glasses of cocktails. And no more standing around in a glittery, sparkly number in heels for 5 hours to wake up with sore, achy feet. No more to all of that! My friend Chrissy has been doing this for years with her husband and she’s quite an expert on New Year’s Eve celebrations at home. Brian and I are new to this and honestly, I’m sad that it took us this long to realize the genius of it.

I ate and drank to my heart’s content, garbed in a onesie, in the comfort of my own home while watching movies on Amazon while snuggled up to my corgi pup, Queen Elizabeth. It was amazinggggg! Brian and I also used a lot of our wedding presents: plates, glasses, & silverware. Sadly, we still don’t have a working oven/stove because of the gas leak in our apartment building so I purchased an Instant Pot to make pasta. The best part? We still have leftovers!

Cabin Fever

It’s been over a week since my surgery. Day 9 of being home alone and I realize that I’m slowly running out of Grey’s Anatomy episodes, canvases to paint, and things to draw. I’ve switched from Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, & Twitter and refreshed the Home feed so many times that I literally know what everyone’s been doing, eating, drinking, and wearing. Friday night was St. Paddy’s Day and while everyone’s out drinking, I stayed home with Lizzie, crying over Mark Sloane. Saturday at 4pm, I was supposed to go see Beauty and the Beast with Brian but instead stayed home and watched new episodes of The Iron Fist. Cabin Fever officially set in.

So here’s a photo diary of my pretty apartment thanks to everyone’s care packages, snacks, and bouquets of well wishes. Also, lots of photos of Lizzie.

Rockin Around the Christmas Tree

Hi all! Two more days until Christmas! I wanted to share some photos of holiday ornaments that I worked on a couple of weeks ago. Inspired by this awesome tumblr, I made a couple of ornaments based on mine and Brian’s favorite fictional characters. Boba Fett is awesome. Boba Fett with gold glitter is EVEN MORE AWESOME.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas! PS: My Blog is Officially One Year Old!

It’s my blog’s 1st year anniversary! To celebrate, I’ll share my weekend of hardcore nesting/crafting/baking.

I had pancakes for breakfast BOTH days (a treat for me because I don’t usually eat carbs/sweets), I made my second attempt at pie (Apple), we finally decorated our Christmas tree, and I even made some awesome ornaments!

Sunflowers & Thrifting Steals.

This past weekend, le boyfriend bought me a bouquet of sunflowers. Now, I know this is going to come as a surprise but

1- I don’t have a favorite flower (I don’t have a lot of favorite anything.)

2-  I don’t know how to properly arrange flowers. In fact, I suck at it.

I tried to cut the stems short to try and fit them in a round fishbowl but it just wasn’t working out. I felt horrible about ruining them so instead of sticking all of them in one vase, I took a whole bunch of my Double Old-Fashioned glasses and stuck one giant sunflower in each. I then spread them around the entire apartment. They look so cheery!

Two days ago was National Thrift Shop Day. To honor it, I’ve also posted photos of my two most recent buys, both from separate occasions.
