Sant Ambroeus

A friend of mine recommended Sant Ambroeus a couple of months ago – he said it’s one of his favorite spots for Italian food! Of course, because I have a mile-long list of places, I didn’t get around to visiting until this past weekend. I absolutely love the interior (Brian and I went to the one on Lafayette) and I spotted some work by Baron Von Fancy, Donald Robertson, & even Mr. Brainwash! The food is delicious – we got the Sant Ambroeus panini, Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, baskets upon baskets of bread (and endless refills of delicious olive oil to dip in), all accompanied with a refreshing glass of rose for me, and the Anguria cocktail for Brian. National Donut Day

My first fun-filled Summer Friday of the season coincided with National Donut Day. I went low-cal and opted to visit Jerkface’s Donut mural instead of eating the actual sweet confection. The rest of the day was spent graffiti hunting in lower Manhattan (including David Cho’s work-in-progress at the Bowery Wall) and punctuated by a stop at the ticketed All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream celebration at Bryant Park (but not before stopping by Dominique Ansel’s Bakery for the freshly made madeleines. How is a person supposed to lose weight in this damn city with all these events? ALSO BIG DEAL SIDE BAR: I MET MARTHA COOPER & TOOK A PHOTO WITH HER (OBVS) AND SHE TOOK A PHOTO OF ME (eek!!!) Bluestone Lane Coffee + Cooper Hewitt

I’ve been wanting to go to Bluestone Lane for a while because I’m in this Turmeric kick lately. I used to not like the taste of it but after having the Rainbow Latte at The Good Sort, I realized it’s pretty delicious with coconut milk!

Anyway, Brian and I met up with our friend Claudia for brunch and to take her headshots. Shortly afterwards, we went to Cooper Hewitt to check out the Jazz Age exhibit. Click through for more photos!

Vandal

Very excited that Summer Fridays are back! My favorite thing to do after leaving work at 1 pm on Fridays is meeting up with Brian to walk around Manhattan and hunt down graffiti! So of course, when I heard about Vandal, I just HAD to go check it out.

Vandal is a restaurant that offers street food on it’s menu and street art on the walls. The entire front has two full walls of Shepard Fairey, the back has a full wall by Tristan Eaton, and all along the interior are framed artwork by the usual suspects including Space Invaders & Faile. The Good Sort

There are handfuls of the Starbucks Unicorn Latte photos circulating on my timelines¬†and it reminded me of this drink I got over the weekend which is the complete antithesis. Don’t get me wrong, I love sugar on cheat days! But I just can’t believe how delicious this Superfood Rainbow Latte was from The Good Sort – this cute vegan cafe in Chinatown.

The Rainbow Latte isn’t actually a latte because it does NOT have espresso. It doesn’t have any artificial food coloring – the colors are from beet juice, turmeric, and blue algae. It tastes more like a coconut milk-based spiced tea – it’s so good! Ordered it with a hefty slice of Avocado Toast because I could never say no to avocado toast. Click through for pics!
