The Good Sort

There are handfuls of the Starbucks Unicorn Latte photos circulating on my timelines and it reminded me of this drink I got over the weekend which is the complete antithesis. Don’t get me wrong, I love sugar on cheat days! But I just can’t believe how delicious this Superfood Rainbow Latte was from The Good Sort – this cute vegan cafe in Chinatown.

The Rainbow Latte isn’t actually a latte because it does NOT have espresso. It doesn’t have any artificial food coloring – the colors are from beet juice, turmeric, and blue algae. It tastes more like a coconut milk-based spiced tea – it’s so good! Ordered it with a hefty slice of Avocado Toast because I could never say no to avocado toast. Click through for pics!

The Bagel Nook

I’m not really a bagel person. I like it but it’s just not my go-to breakfast item. To be honest, there are a handful of items on a breakfast menu that I would order first before settling into a bagel (avocado toast, eggs benedict, sausage-egg-and-cheese on a kaiser roll, french toast with a side of extra crispy bacon, THE LIST IS ENDLESS!)

So when I found myself hungry somewhere deep in New Jersey with Brian, I found us The Bagel Nook. I remember putting it in my list of food places to try because of their Flaming Hot Cheeto bagels. (yes, you read that correctly)

Obviously, I had to try it. With Cool Ranch cream cheese. Brian got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch bagel with Crumb Cake cream cheese. Click through for more photos!

Cafe Henrie

I’ve been wanting to go to Cafe Henrie for a while now – I love a good avocado toast! So yesterday, Brian and I took a drive down to Forsyth and waited 5 minutes for a seat at one of their pink tables. Ugh, that Acai bowl was just what I needed after a spirited wine night with girlfriends!

Ring in 2017 with a Roast!

For the first time in years, Brian and I decided to stay in on New Year’s Eve with Lizzie Bear. Sometimes you just have to find your center, you know? So I decided to cook up a feast with a Prime Rib Roast as the main. I even made a menu because, why not? haha Everything came out so good!

Bourbon Caramel Croissant Pudding

This past weekend, I had a Netflix & Nosh party at my place. I wanted to have a super relaxed, gathering with strong coffee, brunch fare, & pretty desserts. (Isn’t the invite so cute? Thank god for the internet.)

After sending out the invites, everyone offered to bring an assortment of dishes – something that we all typically do for any get-together. Sadly, my girlfriends are all completely nuts about potlucks – so nuts that by the time all the guests were in attendance, THERE WAS AN ABUNDANCE OF FOOD. And I’m talking enough food to last a week! At the end of the party, I packed everyone leftovers, packed some more for a homeless guy that I see on 34th every day, and packed a little bit for Brian to have. After all that packing, my kitchen countertop was again back to its bare, sad, empty existence. Or so I thought. Later that night, I noticed a medium, white paper bag sitting in a corner by the fridge. I opened it and lo and behold – FIVE FLUFFY, FLAKY, BUTTER CROISSANTS GONE ROGUE. How annoying, I thought. I mean, I can’t eat this stuff during the week – these ungodly little pastries are only allowed in my existence on weekends! I can’t have them in the house but I can’t bear to throw them away either. So I decided to make something out of them & bring it to work. HA!

That’s where Nigella Lawson’s croissant bread pudding came in. It made perfect sense. Pudding came about BECAUSE of leftover bread! And what’s an easier baked good than bread pudding? So I doubled the recipe, added an extra egg for extra custard-ness (?), & splashed it with more bourbon than I care to admit. The result is this delicious, flaky, creamy, BOOZY goodness. Scroll down for the full recipe!
