Vandal

Very excited that Summer Fridays are back! My favorite thing to do after leaving work at 1 pm on Fridays is meeting up with Brian to walk around Manhattan and hunt down graffiti! So of course, when I heard about Vandal, I just HAD to go check it out.

Vandal is a restaurant that offers street food on it’s menu and street art on the walls. The entire front has two full walls of Shepard Fairey, the back has a full wall by Tristan Eaton, and all along the interior are framed artwork by the usual suspects including Space Invaders & Faile. Donald Robertson x Story!

After work, Brian and I trekked to the west side to check out Donald Robertson’s take over of Story, this really cool boutique/gallery hybrid in Chelsea. If you have time this week, you should definitely check it out – the place was wall to wall Donald. Not only did his artwork fully occupy the space but Donald himself was also there to sign his book, Mitford at the Fashion Zoo! I love his work – it’s so fun and tongue-in-cheek. I think that he has tapped this perfect formula of being honest with his work as an artist and at the same time, still gain popularity on social media. And he looks like he has so much fun doing it! The space had everything of his from pins, iron-on embroideries, his book Mitford at the Fashion Zoo, to phone cases, sunglasses, t-shirts, and original work by the artist himself.

Life is Beautiful

Last weekend, Brian was scrolling through his Instagram feed when all of a sudden, he jolted and showed me a post: Mr Brainwash snapped a photo of his show’s soft opening! On a whim, we left the cozy confines of our apartment to check out the exhibit in Chelsea.

Philippe Parreno: H(N)YPN(Y)OSIS

If you’re looking for something to do on a humid Friday night, consider the Philippe Parreno installation at the Park Avenue Armory.

The show just opened on June 10th & I dragged Brian into it this past Friday for post work libations with a side of art appreciation.

Yayoi Kusama: Give Me Love

This past weekend, we visited David Zwirner in Chelsea and stood in line under the sweltering afternoon heat to experience the Obliteration Room. Half an hour later, we were handed a page with polka dot stickers in varying colors and a polite reminder to limit our visit to 5 minutes.

Here’s some photos of us trying to be blend and be obliterated into the spherical madness.
