Vandal

Very excited that Summer Fridays are back! My favorite thing to do after leaving work at 1 pm on Fridays is meeting up with Brian to walk around Manhattan and hunt down graffiti! So of course, when I heard about Vandal, I just HAD to go check it out.

Vandal is a restaurant that offers street food on it’s menu and street art on the walls. The entire front has two full walls of Shepard Fairey, the back has a full wall by Tristan Eaton, and all along the interior are framed artwork by the usual suspects including Space Invaders & Faile. Squish Marshmallows

Somewhere before downing some donuts and after noshing on ice cream, Brian and I found the time to stop by Squish to sample some toasted marshmallows. The smore is delicious but I wish the waffle cone taco were dipped in Dark chocolate instead. Click through for more pics!

Pierogies at Veselka

My first bite of pierogi was when I was in college. My close friend Sara insisted that I take a bite of the boiled, potato-filled dumpling with a pile of fried onions and a big dollop of sour cream. I took that wonderful delicious bite and never looked back.

Veselka is one of my favorite spots – I’ve been here so many times and the food always tastes the same! I love all their pierogies, the stuffed cabbage, and the matzo ball soup. Brian and I shared some plates while Lizzie hung around and people watched. The staff was so nice – they gave her a small bowl of water and even offered some homemade dog biscuits! 3rd Annual Bacon & Beer Classic

I don’t drink beer. But I love Beerfests. And bacon. I love bacon. The Bacon and Beer Classic is a yearly tradition – we purchase the VIP passes and sample sips of craft beer while noshing on bacony bites at Citifield. I can’t think of a better way to spend 5 hours. Click through for more pics!

Artexpo New York

Art shows are always fun. You get to peruse a lot of original artwork and get inspired. I think it’s such a great way to spend half a day on a weekend. I went on Saturday for inspiration and also to stop by my friend Amanda’s mom’s booth – one of her encaustic paintings was on display. Click through for more pics!
